My background
I spent nine years at Visual Education Corporation/McGraw Hill (starting back when it was an independent development house called Visual Education Corporation). I started as an editorial assistant and worked my way up to project editor, working on textbooks and reference books for various grade levels. My work touched on every aspect of the editorial process: library and online research, writing and editing, hiring outside writers and editors, managing schedules and budgets, and copyfitting pages.
In my 19 years as a freelancer, I have worked on textbooks in subjects ranging from health to music and from elementary to collegiate level. I have also written for online publications, including the Perch Energy blog, Money Crashers, ConsumerSearch, and The Dollar Stretcher.
